 home especially at

For So many years

 I was flying during this busy time 

It makes being home  now even more 

wonderful

I realized then that 

Christmas is NOT about how perfect

 our Home looks....

how many presents are under the tree

even how our presents are wrapped.....

is about  being with the people that you

Deck the Halls

 Hi Everyone

This weekend 
we put on Christmas music and
 Decked the halls

not with boughs of holly but

 all through out the house we added pine tree branches and ribbon we even decorated our

~vintage white ironstone~

Did you know that a "bough"  means a tree branch

So when we  all sing "deck the halls with boughs of holly"
we are actually singing deck the halls with branches of holly

Blessed Christmas

Today is

 So grateful for today

Our son comes home from college and

 we are hosting a party at home

 for Handsome husbands office 

 Busy day filled with Joy

 getting

the house ready for friends and family

  The weather is not cooperating

 there is a huge rain and thunder storm predicted for tonight 

mmmm.....

 It may be a  tiny bit wet

but that's alright

 we will build a fire in the fireplace and all stay warm and cozy together

Christmas gate

Hi Everyone

 Happy Monday

There is something so fun about ice skating 

maybe its just the challenge not to fall

or maybe it is falling just a little

could be the cold and bundling up

in our

 mittens and scarves
and drinking hot cocoa too

{Love}

having our daughters ice skates out for all to see this time of  year

brings back so many

 wonderful  family memories 

This year we found the most wonderful  Christmas tree it is

 very full and when we got it home it was much bigger than it looked at the lot

 so we trimmed a few branches and they worked perfectly

 tucked inside the skates

We even added some jingle bells so

opening the gate

even sounds like

Christmas

 Every year it is a family tradition to add the ice skates somewhere

 for

Christmas

Vintage Gift Ideas

 Hi Everyone

 Happy Saturday

Here are a few last minute Teacher gifts that 

we put together yesterday

{Love}

adding a few vintage treasures to help

give the gifts a personal touch

This year we collected cups and creamers
{this one is a Emma Bridgewater creamer}
and potted just one 

paper white bulb
{a fun family project}

The bulbs will bloom at just the perfect time

Wrapping it simply in cellophane and twine 

also protects the dirt from spilling out

in route to school

This vintage aluminum juicer is the perfect container

 for homemade white chocolate bark

we added a funky vintage porcelain handle

that can be used later as a tree ornament 

~funky and fun~

The last gift is a extra large cup filled with 

Trader Joes candy cane peppermint green tea 

so yummy

 We added a  vintage heart shaped tea strainer

 and a red and white candy cane

White Elephant Gift

 Hi Everyone

 Happy Friday

Are you all finished with your

 Christmas decorating

or are you like our family we 

do not even have our tree yet ....

we will be part of the masses getting our tree this weekend

Do you see this tiny Santa silver bell 

 it was a white elephant gift

every year a dear friend has a Christmas party and asks everyone to bring a small present wrapped

it is one of those swaps where you can trade your gift for someone else s gift 

believe me this game can get intense

   This little Santa bell was the last white elephant gift opened

I was sitting happily with my gift...

a pretty poinsettia plant

and all of the sudden my poinsettia plant was gone and I had the silver Santa bell

I admit I was talking and not really paying attention to the game 

and everyone was laughing turns out the Santa bell had been swapped a few times
{no one wanted him}

but I liked the vintage bell

It fit right in with a few other silver treasures we have 
collected

like this vintage silver chocolate snowman mold 

Now when all the girls come over to our house

 and see the Santa they always say why did we trade him ?
I am grateful they did

Ivy Topiary

Hi Everyone

 Happy Wednesday

♥

This is so exciting  today it is

 one year 

that we have kept this little heart shaped  ivy topiary alive !!!

I feel like throwing confetti and celebrating

I am embarrassed to say that there have been way too many topiary's

 that have just been tossed in the trash

When we were given this topiary as a hostess gift last year 

 I almost cringed with guilt

Our friends bet me that it would go the way of all of the previous topiary's trashed in a few months but 

 I made it my goal to try and keep it alive

 First it was placed in the kitchen next to the sink where we could keep an eye on it and make sure it got plenty of water

 but it was in a window that receives much

too much light
 we moved it to the dining room 

( this is when I thought  for sure it was going to die }

 but it was happy there

So we kept the ivy watered on a regular bases 

 gave it a light spray bath every other week

and it actually started to grow 

We placed it in different containers

to show it off

Tonight our friends are coming over for dinner

can't wait for them to see

it is still alive

if you have trouble growing ivy topiary's too

here are a few hints.........

 find a location that does not get too much sun or heat and spray them often to keep the leaves clean

water regularly and keep your fingers crossed
